Mayan Calendar 2010 Sacred teachings and Cholqij count of days G g 9781441480866 Books
I have been studying the daily Mayan calendar for several years, and had hit a bit of a plateau. Well, I found this little treasure at the same time I was taking on online class with a gentleman who studies regularly with current daykeepers. The two matched beautifully, which was reassuring and they both built on and clarified some of the previous things I had learned. My favorite things about this book are that the 20 day descriptions begin with Monkey (like in the Popul Vuh) and how the author offers things to pray for on the days...that has been a Godsend.
When in doubt, pray the prayer for the day sign, if you really want to get in there, behave according to the number sign.
Small enough to carry and reference regularly, wonderful companion for the Daily Guide to the Mayan Sacred Calendar datebook.

Mayan Calendar 2010 Sacred teachings and Cholqij count of days
Excellent! Very Concise. Good Reference.. Great Photos!!
I bought the same calendar last year, and got great use out of it.
This years calendar has even more information...very impressed!
very comprehensive, and super well presented.
I highly recommend for anyone who is interested in Mayan thought.
This is a fine calendar and a resource that has not been easy to find outside of Guatemala. It offers the English and Spanish reader a counting of the days of the 260-day Cholq'ij Mayan ceremonial calendar and a brief description of the Mayan nahual day spirits. It is a starting point for those who may wish to structure their life, or part of it, along the more natural rhythms of the Cholq'ij. The presentation is a beautiful work of art, with beautiful narrative and illustrations both. I highly recommend it, as both a companion and gift item.
It is a calendar more than a book, and those wishing for the `full explanation of sacred glyphs' promised by an earlier reviewer will be disappointed, just as a Catholic would be disappointed if they expected their parish calendar to deliver a complete explanation of the sorrowful and joyful mysteries. This is complex, layered cosmology, and I read the complete text of this calendar-book while waiting in the car one day for my son to get out of school. It is a starting point.
Just as no person is understood in isolation, a day has several nahuals standing behind it. Each nahual is complex, as a person is complex, with both light and shadow. A book could be written about each glyph, each nahual, but even that would not tell the story because the story is living, and must be experienced day after day within the context of a life. I opened the book on Tijax, defined by Gg as a double edged knife, and the power to cut out negativity. Indeed, the obsidian knife of Tijax is the day of healing, as with a scalpel, but can also be a knife of sudden death. The knife can carve out human destiny, or be an edge on with to maintain life's balance. Tijax can be a stone, including the stone of a mountain or the earth itself, as its glyph shows a pyramid viewed from above, or a flint, struck to produce the spark of discernment. Tijax is understood only over time, as a companion is understood.
So do not expect this great calendar to be more than it can realistically be. It is a guide, a roadmap, to make our journey along the thread of life's woven mat a little easier. My only criticism is that it depends so strongly on the Gregorian calendar, organized by a churchman to measure linear time from Christ's birth to his second coming. I would prefer to follow it in Mayan cycles, with the Gregorian months and days being the annotations.
